The A-Team Is Moving To Colorado

The A-Team Is Moving To Colorado

The time has come for the A-Team to move to Colorado.

The Anderson 5 chose to move to Fort Worth in late 2020 after Meg & Ben died to help make the transition easier for the Arbour kids. We feel so thankful we had the freedom with our business to do such a thing.

It’s been a crazy couple of years, and this stop in Fort Worth to heal and bond together as a family has been one of the largest unplanned blessings of our lives. In addition to Meg & Ben’s supportive friends, we found a fairy-tale-like neighborhood that has provided community, safety, and love for our family. We have made life-long friendships here. We have been served and loved by more people than I can count.

However, our business and hearts are still in Colorado, so the time is now for the move back that we always suspected would come. Besides a need to be closer to our Denver-based business of 15+ years, Andrew and I are finally taking the leap to live out our dream of raising our kids in a small mountain town. This dream has been festering for years. While this move is bittersweet, it aligns with our vision, which is a fantastic feeling!

As always, the kids are resilient and accepting of the change. I know I take for granted how 6/6 kids can handle yet another massive life change like this. They all, of course, find big sadness in leaving the people they love here, but the adventure of a new place, new lifestyle, and yet more new friends thrills them all to some degree. I am really proud and thankful for their good attitude about this.

Andrew and I are giddy. Colorado has been our chosen home since 2007; adventure is our addiction. So to return to the state we love with the ease of outdoor adventure and laid-back lifestyle feels like a breath of fresh air after the hardest couple of years we’ve ever lived through.

A Quick Note Of Thanks

You can tell from my gushing about the people we’ve met here that our past couple of years would have been harder, more painful, and not nearly as fun without our precious Fort Worth relationships. You know who you are. You have shown up at our door with food, you’ve mentored us or our littles, you’ve listened without judgment, cried with us, celebrated our wins, loved on our kiddos, invited us to your fun parties, you’ve made us laugh, sent your kids to play at our house, let ours invade your homes, played tennis with me, signed our kids up for activities, driven our kids around, taken them to church, spent hours on our front porch, you’ve prayed, you’ve left clothes and toys on our doorstep, etc, etc, etc, etc.

YOU are a large reason why we have survived and even thrived since our lives were turned upside down in 2020. Thank you. We can’t wait for you to visit us in the mountain, as our friendship is just getting started.

Steamboat Springs Skate & Bike Park

Steamboat Springs Skate & Bike Park

The Steamboat Springs Skate & Bike Park was a highlight of our whole summer. When choosing locations for camping when we have all six or seven kids with us usually entails research about bike parks. The older kids love skating, and the younger kids love biking. Steamboat has a great bike and skate park close to the Steamboat KOA. The older kids had the freedom to ride the free Steamboat Springs Shuttle, and we all went several times together. When our friends came into town, the bike park was the main attraction too.

Camping In Steamboat Springs

Camping In Steamboat Springs

There are not a ton of great spots for Camping In Steamboat Springs. However, in 2020 we stopped at the KOA at the edge of town and fell in love with the spot. This year we booked the spot months in advance, took Andrew’s dad, and convinced some friends to join us. The location is so favorable because the free town shuttle stops in the park every 20 minutes.

At the campground, the kids swam, played putt-putt golf and chess, and played on the playground. The best part of the camp, in my opinion, is the Yampa river flowing through it with perfect little rapids for everyone to float around in.

There is so much to do in mountain towns during the summer. We pulled a list of activities and joined the crowds for several of them. The first night we went to the base area for an outdoor movie in the park! The town also has a couple of hot springs areas so we took the kids to the Old Town Hot Springs and they really loved that.

We enjoyed being so close to town and river access with our family and friends.

Front Range Festivities

Front Range Festivities

Since we were camped at Jellystone, we had easy access to Front Range Festivities. The whole group spent time in Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.

Garden Of The Gods

It had been a couple of years since we had been to the magical Garden of the Gods park in Colorado Springs. It took three cars and a lot of driving around looking for parking to get started. Once settled, the rest of the adventures was perfect. During the hike into the park, we walked past a bouldering park which all seven kids we had with us loved. Luckily we went in the morning to beat the rain. The dramatic red rock features are so cool, and it is such a treat to get to share this beauty with our friends.

Denver Days

One of the kiddos in our group celebrated his birthday while we were traveling, so we took a day to explore some ‘must-see’ areas of Denver. One night my girlfriend and I got to sneak off for a Halsey concert at Red Rocks. We still love our home city and love showing it off.

Boulder

On the last day, on the front range, we picked up Micah and Abby from the airport (they were visiting some old friends in Florida). Then, we took off to Boulder. The Boulder River was the destination. The kids wanted to float a river, so we found the rapids and let the kids play around in the freezing water!
