Our New Grand Design 28bh
She’s here! Our New Grand Design 28bh “Primary Residence” has been purchased. We have had so many ups and downs in the past month pertaining to travel planning in particular. Our 2020 route has been changed so the a-team is now staying stateside for the foreseeable future. Once this decision was finalized, we put our efforts into finding the perfect home on wheels to take us all over the country!
What Happened To The First Camper?
We purchased, renovated, and sold our first camper trailer last year. “Mini-B”, as we called her, we our first love. But, we quickly realized we would like a little more room for the full-time living. We went back and forth between options and ultimately decided on a 5th wheel. The 5th wheel choices are endless, but some of our criteria made it easier to dwindle down the options. The desire was to find the smallest 5th wheel with a 3-bunk-bed-house. Thankfully, in our search, we came across Grand Design.
Choosing Grand Design
After hours of youtube.com videos and blog reading, this brand of trailer seemed like the fit for us. The quality/value ratio seems right and the layout is perfect! We don’t usually buy things new. Not houses, cars, toys, clothes.. anything. But, this beauty is brand-spankin’ new! She’s a 2020 Grand Design Reflections 28bh. We liked the 2020 model because of a few tiny updates they came out with. Shaker cabinets, bunkhouse design improvements, and color pallet all work really well for us.
While I had a blast renovating our first camper, it’s winter now and we are on a time crunch so there will be no renovating the new home, for now anyway (wink…. don’t tell Andrew I said that.)
The pick-up at the dealership was an all-day affair of training and paperwork. When it was complete and the camper was hooked up, I had a similar feeling to when I left the hospital after Reese was born.
“Uhhhh… what do you mean congrats and good luck!?!?! Arent one of you professionals coming with us??? Surely, you can’t trust us with this thing!!!”
Once the nerves subsided we took her for a spin and felt so grateful for our beast of a truck. Seems like we now have our rig set up right for our year of travel.
A Milestone Moment
The dream we conjured up nine months ago all the sudden feels… real. Picking her up from the dealership was the closest Iâve felt to being a kid on Christmas Day. The (actual kids) were just as excited. ..
The past year has been monumental. It started with changing our belief system around whatâs possible.
Once we started understanding that we CAN choose our own experiences, that led to defining what we want to experience with our family… which led to renting out our house, imagining a travel year, buying and selling our 1st camper, restructuring our business (so that we donât have to be in Denver to operate it), trading our SUVs for the RAM, minimizing, budgeting, saving, homeschooling the kids, creating a plan of travel with our family…. then more planning, dreaming, choosing, and now itâs here!
This new adventure didnât just âhappenâ to us. Itâs taken a dream, a plan, action, lots of moving parts, and faith! Weâre so excited to start this next chapter.
