We’re a Skiing Family
This trip has been a dream. It is with stars in my eyes that I can say: We’re a Skiing Family! We made the unusual plan of leaving the i-70 ski options this year for a ski trip to Purgatory (in Durango). Our thought was to take a whole week (10 days actually) and ski every day in Purgatory instead of a few weekends and/or 1-off days.
This plan worked really well for us this year. We all got to be on the slopes every day for a little bit, after school and work. The older kids took 2 ski lessons (Ty in childcare) which really helped them progress and gave Andrew and me some incredible mountain exploring days!
Ty was only on the bunny slopes a few times before we decided to take him up to the top with the rest of us. Our hope was with some distance, he could really practice what he was working on. The reality was: he crushed the slopes. He’s 3 and it was crazy! The dude took the first few hills to get his feet under him and then, he flew. It was incredible to see. Pizza, french fry, pizza, slide!
Nixon and Reese are now on another level! Reese was looking for every tree-path and bump she could take. Nixon was in awe and right on her tail the whole time. They are very close to the same level. Andrew and I are so proud and shocked and excited that our dream of a skiing family is coming to fruition so soon.
It’s really fun to ski in general. It’s really fun to ski fast and hard. BUT, it’s even more fun to see your kids learn something new, love it, and get to ski with you!
I am looking forward to more trips of ski obsessed kiddos like this one.
